Timber Garage Doors

Timber garage doors require full preparation before new paint is applied. We strip back to sound material, sand the surface, and fill any cracks or splits with exterior-grade filler. Bare timber is primed with an oil-based or specialist timber primer before two coats of durable exterior gloss or satin.

GRP and Composite Doors

GRP (glass reinforced plastic) composite doors are the most common non-timber door type on newer properties across the district. The material is smooth and non-porous — standard primers do not bond to it. A specialist adhesion primer is essential before any topcoat, otherwise the finish will peel regardless of the paint brand used over it.

The substrate does not need stripping, only cleaning, degreasing, and correct priming. A wide colour range is available once the adhesion primer is applied.

uPVC Doors

1. Assessment

2. Surface Preparation
